Unstuck!

Late Monday I got unstuck. It came as a small voice telling me I did not have to stick to any idea I had about what to do next (another "Root" painting) I had been thinking about painting bowls and vessels for weeks and resisted it. Finally I did it and I really liked the result. I am half done with another one. I took a quick photo in my yard tonight (and a detail shot), it is not the best and I will do another this weekend fit to submit to the show, but I wanted to share and get some feedback.
I took it to a friend today and they did not like it. I am okay with that and I want honesty. I certainly don't think that all people should like every piece! That would be impossible. I did find myself second guessing my own opinion, but you know even if it is crap in the end I have to go with my own voice and I really like it a lot, so I am submitting it to the show. Enlarge for a better view.
I always appreciate your thoughts.
My 30% off sale in my ETSY shop is still going...Read P.S. below for details.
happy Thursday! XOXO

It's gorgeous!....so much i love about it....the color is modern and different..... a color that i use in my home a lot for accent....the white center is outstanding....and the glow perfection!....submit it....and don't second guess yourself....intuition and guts....that's what we work with!

I certainly love it! The simplicity is awesome so are the colours. Submit it now!

I love this. the background looks like an ancient wall, the bowl so inviting or varous meditations. love your story too, of letting go of a prefixed idea of how it s'posed to be and just doing what your inner guide suggested. then getting unstuck. yeah!

I love it, and I love that a vessel can mean different things. Your painting is very meditative and warm. I think you should always listen to your gut - xox

I like what soulbrush said... I like the simplicity, too. You never know what the judges will like or not like, and while of course you want to get into the show, being true to what you want to do/be/paint I believe is the most important thing. Best of luck to you Annie!
I am wrapping up my time here & will be heading back in a few days- I will try to reach you from the road.

Becky, I always paint for myself, but there is much I like to paint, so I can move it in a direction that is more saleable for the venue. Taos is conservative and abstraction does not sell here, I have only sold one abstract painting here, ever! Santa Fe is a different story. I loved doing the bowl and plan on doing a series of them. I think they are much more saleable for this show and it would be wonderful to sale something! LOL.
I miss you! Drive carefully and call when you can. xoxo

Right, Blogger dammit I want to comment here!!! What made me think of serenity Annie was the aura around the bowl. It is just "there" and that's as it should be.

If blogger eats this I shall give up for the time being!!! Love and hugs xx Jos

There is something more still about this one- Earth rather than the Air of the Blue Bowl? I like the way it glows quietly- a serenity. The Blue one fizzles with a sort of magic with movement. I think they make a great pair. Are you planning more: Water or Fire ones not for the show?

I knew you could do it Annie and that they would be special. Well done and good luck.
