Artistic Inspirations

I just received a large shipment of new painting boards (we have no art supply store in Taos) and I am excited to start filling them up :-). These are just a few things that have been inspiring me.
To see what I have been up to, go to the last two posts or go to my ETSY store on my side bar, as I have been listing paintings that I have not had time to show you here. I am also painting some paintings for some upcoming Summer juried shows. More on that later.
I am still having computer issues and likely will until I can afford a new computer, so if I am not visiting or commenting on your blogs this is why. It takes me up to 20 minutes sometimes to just load a blog or comment. I am visiting when I can and know that I love you all and miss you.
Have a wonderful Memorial weekend! XOXO

New Work

I wish you could all come over and see this painting, because these photos actually make it look awful, the white behind the red glares and the graphite glares and graphite marks disappear. I am trying to save up to have professional photos taken for the gallery disk, but with all the vet bills lately I have not been able to. The above photo is as close as I could get as it is a bright sunny day outside and that is not the best light. I have included lots of detail photos, so I hope you can get an idea of the painting. The red is a cherry red, not this Orange red that you see, also the red is not near as intense. For this perfectionist, this makes me go GRRRR! When I get better photos done I will put it on my ETSY site. This painting is of a root I found while hiking, it is titled "Root" :-). Oil stick, and graphite on cradle board, 20"x 20", click image to enlarge. I always love your comments. I must rush as I only have a half day left to paint! Happy Sunday!!! XOXO

New Work

I have six new paintings to show you and two almost done, I decided to start with the last one I did because it is my favorite. Untitled (Blue), 8"x8", Venetian plaster, oil, India ink and graphite on board. I always love to hear your thoughts. Back to painting! Happy Monday! XOXO

Coyote!

This is the 10th coyote I have seen in the last 6 months. I usually see one a year. This one not only stood still for the photo this morning, it later laid down and watched Bella and I as we walked away. Bella went nuts, but luckily she was on the leash. I no longer let her run free out here with the rattle snakes! Someone told me I had coyote medicine, I don't know, but I love them. Happy Saturday!XOXO

Inspiration and Art Love

Art work by Leonardo Drew (from De Cordova website)
I discovered this wonderful artist by visiting this lovely blog: Art in the Studio. I fell immediately in love with Leonardo's work. I would love to see it in person.
You will also see Nancy Natale's wonderful work if you go visit her blog. There is much to love and inspire.

These broken stones are also inspiring me these days, and flowers and pods and shells and sticks, just about anything I am laying my eyes  :-).
What is inspiring you?
I will be getting photos taken of about 6 new pieces sometime this weekend. Stay tuned.
I also wanted you all to know that if I am not visiting or commenting on your blogs it is because my old computer is having problems, even though I have high speed it sometimes takes forever to load a blog or leave a comment. Sometimes it's fine, but sometimes 20 minutes for one blog! I don't have that kind of time, so please forgive me.
Happy Friday! XOXO

New Work

This is untitled, 8"x8", Venetian plaster, oil and graphite on cradle board, also side views and detail shots. Click to enlarge to see more detail. Sorry about the glare on the last photo. This piece is going to be in my etsy shop soon. I am working on a series of small pieces that I will be selling for under $50, I will share photos soon. I know my prices are not cheap and I want to make some pieces that are more affordable. This piece is larger so it will likely be $145. I have been painting and selling my work for 30 years, so I feel I have earned a higher price, and in the gallery this piece would be going for $700-800, with me receiving half that. On my site I can keep the prices lower as I don't have to share the profit :-). Pricing art is such a pain, if any artists out there want to share how they do it let me know. I do know that I have seen many giving their work away and I know it is not about the money, but I feel you have to value your own work. My highest price for a painting thus far is $5,000, small potatoes in the art world, but a fortune to me :-). I would love to hear your thoughts on this topic. I know a lot of us struggle with this. Also let me know what you think of this piece, if you would be so kind.

Thank you all for your concern about Bella, she went on her first hike since the bite and she is almost back to her old self, another week of meds.
I am off for a weekend of painting, I have not painted this much since my 20's, it feels so good to make the time no matter how tired or rushed I am, it is always worth it :-).
Happy Saturday!XOXO
