More Fall in Taos

Tuesday I worked for a wonderful woman(thank you H!) who lives surrounded by 20 year old Aspens and their babies. My camera would not take them all in, so here are just bits. Lately the trees here have been heartbreakingly beautiful. I am super busy with jobs and glazing, but I wanted to peek in and say hi. Blessings today.XOXO

Fall in Taos

Fall is my favorite time of year. Yesterday I took these photos and there was so much beauty I could hardly contain myself. There were a lot of shots I could not take as there was no where to pull off the road, but I took what I could. It was a very rainy, overcast day.

Other than that I am submerged in making all manor of ceramic items and I am very boring to talk to as all I want to talk about is the wonder of clay :-). Happy Thursday! XOXO

More Life

I am as busy as a bee these days. I am cleaning places in my house that have not been cleaned for a year :-). It feels good. Today is the final clean before my mom comes. I also have a new little problem. A sweet cat has come to me for help. I can't let her in the house as my cat Max will not tolerate a new cat, so I made a box home for her on my porch and I am feeding her and looking for a home she will be happy in. I believe she is an abused kitty. The thing about Taos is that it is a beautiful place, but like all places there is a very dark side. The treatment of animals here is beyond cruel. Please pray I find her a home with lots of love, she deserves it. This is going to be a very busy time with work and my mom and brother and his wife, I won't have much time to post or visit, but know that I am thinking of you and will catch up when I can. Also I have a new blog friend who I am becoming very fond of indeed and she has real life and death health issues and members of her family are also in much need of your prayers and good thoughts. Her name is Renee, please send up a prayer for her and her family. And since we are praying send one up for M.Kate and her family as well for good health. Let me throw in a couple more :-). Keep sending good thoughts up for my cousin R and I have an old friend (we'll call her R too)who is feeling very lonely. Okay you all get halos!

My interview with Starlene

Starlene from the wonderful blog, Return to Myself, interviewed me. She asked five terrific questions and here are the answers to the first two questions. I will answer the rest over the course of the week.
1.) At the beginning of the year, you posted a blog with Three Words for the New Year...Freedom, Kindness, and Joy. How have these three things become more incorporated into your life or what are your plans to embrace them (being it's only just now, the second month of the year)?

I had to really think about this as truth be told I have not been working very hard on the words, except for Joy. Perhaps that is where I really needed to focus. As I said in that post, I had let joy slip away somehow, probably due to some events that had happened during the past year. I have made some effort to bring it back into my life and I feel lighter everyday. I am spending more time with friends and I am blessed with the best friends in the world. I am working less and making more art(this one I had a little help from the Universe on :-). Slowing down and really enjoying every moment of my day. I have a joy list that I plan on ticking off as the year goes on.
My list:
1. Go to Paris, failing this I want to go visit my friends in my old city, San Francisco.
perhaps both! Miracles do happen after all.
2. Finish my book!
3. Run more
4. Keep spending time with friends, let my hermit self go a bit.
5. Open back up to romantic love.
6. Work more in clay! This gives me enormous joy.
7. Eat more healthy foods.
8. Read ( I do this a lot, but you can never read enough :-).
9. Watch great movies (same as above).
As for Kindness, I do pay attention to this on a daily basis, though it has not been a focus lately.
Freedom is really what my life is about and I do feel very free, there is always room for improvement though :-).
2.) I see you're from New Mexico AND you're an artist. I also see some pictures of Taos Mountains on your blog so I can only assume you're somewhere in the Taos area. I have always fantasized about moving there or at least visiting to see what it's like...the earthships, the art colonies, the beauty. What do you like best about the area? What are your favorite things to do and see?
Yes, I live in Taos.
Taos mountain is my very favorite thing about living here. I have lived around many mountains, like Mt. Hood(I actually climbed Mt. Hood when I was 20) and Mt. Shasta, but Taos mountain is by far the most powerful mountain I have ever seen or lived near. Hiking and running with my dog Zeus is a favorite activity. I love to visit a little town a couple miles from Taos called Arryo Seco and I always have great fun going to Santa Fe and visiting galleries on Canyon Road (this is a famous place for art lovers to go). Sad to say there are only a few galleries in Taos that have art I really like, landscapes just don't do it for me, nothing wrong with them, they are just not my thing.

Home

I made it home last night. My first day back has been eventful.

First I drove in the above blizzard to the store because I had nothing to eat. Then I discovered my oven is broken (just as I was about to heat up my dinner). Last but not least, as I was putting things away in my closet I discovered a very large dead mouse. I discovered this in my work room closet, a room only one cat (Mr. B) is allowed to come in. He also eats special food which I feed him in that room, so the other cats don't steal it from him. Only thing I can imagine happened is that B killed him and left him there, otherwise I have no idea how the mouse expired. Any ideas?

Before my Be Brave days I would have run and called on a neighbor to take the mouse away(yes I was a wimp), but now I am brave and even though it was no fun, I was able to dispose of the mouse myself. Of this I am most proud :-). I have much to catch up with and many blogs to visit.

I have a bunch of photos of my trip to share and I will start posting them this week. I am glad to be home, but I miss my family very much and I am very sad today. It is sometimes hard to move to the beat of your own drummer. XOXO
