Good News

If you recall this post, long ago I told you of an art show here in Taos called the Taos Arts Selects, it is a yearly Taos Fall Art show. It is a juried show and Taos is tough because they like landscapes and cowboys and Indians for the most part. Abstract is not usually what they go for. I entered one of my new abstracts (and not the flowers and vase painting) so I knew it was a long shot, but today I got the news that my painting was accepted. This is the first juried show in Taos that I have entered in 14 years that I have ever been accepted into. They took this painting:

I told myself when I entered the show that if I got in it did not mean I was good and if I did not get in it did not mean I was a bad artist, I believe in my work no matter what others think and I stand by that. I do feel blessed to be included though. Have a happy weekend. XOXO

P.S. No matter what I do blogger spaces this post goofy.

your painting to me is ...
happiness, history, a sense of time and here ... nowness... i don't know.. i just like it!!!
and taos could afford to branch out a bit. maybe you've started something!
will enjoy browsing the archives of this beautifully creative site,
like a nice archaeological dig.

Good for you, and your attitude!

Yay! Your recent works take me back to the '60's for some reason, maybe some of the Danish Modern furnishings I grew up with? Anyway, I am glad they caught their eye and included your piece!

Thanks for visiting my kitty blog, too. I follow way too many blogs and somehow never catch up visiting. And thanks for mentioning your concerns about clumping litter. Being a vet tech, I know of it's risks and never used it when I had kittens as they could ingest it, and with my naked and very short haired Cornish Rex and Sphynx, they don't have the issues normal furred cats do with litter collecting in the fur of their paws. I use trays with grates in front of the boxes too that collect any litter that sticks to their paws, too. They don't have fur around their 'privates' for litter to collect in either. And because of their toes not being cushioned with fur, they hate the regular clay litter as I think it's kind of sharp on their skin with they dig. I have tried many of the wheat and corn based litters but have one cat with wheat and storage mite allergies and she breaks out with contact to anything wheat or grain. Anyway, just wanted you to know I appreciated your comment and concern.

Babs, yes validation is nice, I just never want to get too addicted to it :-).xoxo
Teri, Thank you. Glad to hear that your kitties are not at risk, but many people who read your blog may have long haired cats or normal haired cats as I do and I thought they should be aware :-). Always looking out to inform. xoxo

Well, of course I am thrilled you got in! Iam truly happy for you. Even though you don't need it to validate the work you do, it is nice to be recognized... it just is! How long will the show be up, i'd like to come see it if you can swing it. miss ya & hope to get re-settled & on some sort of schedule soon so we can visit in person!
:)

Becky, Thank you sweetie. The show is only 10 days which is short, it seems like it used to go for 3 weeks. The dates are Sept 23-Oct2.
Not sure if I am going home in Sept or when if I do, but I would love to see you soon! xoxo

Huge Congratulations Annie! Hopefully if people see your work and know how to get in touch with you, you will get further sales.

Your new paintings have a different feel to your older ones. I hope they will all sell as you get more widely known.

well! wonderful!

i'm not one bit surprised about this painting and your current series in general. other people have mentioned the 'energy' it emits, and that is what i see and feel too. congratulations from me too, annie xoxo

and lori's comment about typing in draft mode? hmmmm. i can't get the damn spacing to work and it drives me crazy. i am going to see what i do next time i write a post. maybe it's that simple? how nice that would be!

paint away annie coe. seems like it's happening! yay!
