New Painting
This is my latest painting in a series I started a few weeks back, there are many layers, perhaps ten or more to get this where I wanted it. The title is "Demolition". It is fitting because I am working on demolishing many old habits and ways of thinking and in doing this piece I took much sandpaper and even a big butcher knife to it :-). 12"x 12", venetian plaster, oil, graphite and cold wax.
If you click on image then click again you get a better idea of all the detail.
I always love to hear your thoughts, those that still blog :-).
Love. XOXO

annie, i especially love that deep red area that you took a close-up of... yes, the whole thing, but there is something powerful about that spot...
xoxo
Lynne, Thank you, I feel the same way, when I look at the piece that is what draws me in. xoxo
i love the red too, this is lovely annie. the painting you made with the boat and stars will always be my favorite i think, i still think of that one...
Thank you Lori, so wonderful to see you here. That painting sold and lives in Oregon :-). xoxo
Love this piece - so much energy! And I also love that red spot!
xxoo
Judy :-). Thank you. xoxo
That Red Spot drew me in also, for some reason i thought of anger, and movement and change. Good job!!!
Mim, Yes, all those things! At one point in the layers I was very angry as I could not get the painting where I wanted it, so I took a huge butcher knife to the piece. It helped a lot in moving the painting beyond that point ;-). xoxo
Yes still blogging just about. :-)
When I saw it, it reminded me of a wall with weathered graffiti written in anger but that had faded with weathering.
That red against the black and white is fabulous, Annie! I also really like the idea of demolishing old habits and ideas. It's something I'm working on this year, too.
Wishing you all the best!
xoxoxo
Melanie, I like that :-). xoxo
Angela, Thank you. I hope all is wonderful with you too. xoxo
this one leaves me sad, annie, which is of course a part of life. i see hope wanting to bleed through, but it's a struggle.
funny that i'm saying this on a very fine day !
love
kj
Kj, I am sorry, it is a very grey painting. All my work comes from deep inside, I have a lot of sadness, I have lost so many loved ones in the last two years, that has to come out in my work sometimes though I am rarely sad on a day to day basis. xoxo
Hi Annie! I love the layers in this. It's very rich with texture - and here is what popped into my mind when I saw the red. Tendons. Tendons are strong connectors, so maybe that's a good symbol for where you are headed.
P.S. I still blog - just getting back in the swing of it. :) xo
Pam, Thank you. So glad to see you :-). xoxo
It is a wonderful idea, to demolish old habits. And that you have actually done this in your paintings. I like what Pamela said about tendons being strong connectors too.
roxanne
Roxanne, Yes, it is wonderful to let in change and new ways to think and new ways to do art! I love trying new processes and media. Also wonderful to see you here.
xoxo
