About Me
- Annie Coe
- I am a painter living in the beautiful moutain town of Taos New Mexico. Artist Statement: I have been painting since I was eight years old when I declared to my mother that I wanted to be an artist. She promptly went out and bought me an oil set. Perhaps not the wisest choice for a child, but it got me started. I have been painting ever since and my way of working and what I paint has changed dramatically over the years. At this point in time I am working with mixed media on board and canvas. Nearly every image starts with a dream, either waking or sleeping. Other subjects that inform my work are literature and nature. Each painting is for me an adventure in color and texture,an exploration of joy and a way for me to get to know myself better. There is always a personal narrative and some hidden message that I am unaware of until it reveals itself in the finished piece. My paintings are about whatever is going on in my life at the time I am painting. My intention when I do a painting is to be true to my authentic voice and perhaps to open someone's heart and mind to all the possibilities around them.

all the different media feels very good, peaceful in the blue
Hi Annie, i received the wonderful painting that you did just for me!!!..It is is so beautiful...and very inspirational to me as an artist. I always say, "follow the clues...' and this gift painting resounds with the ancient look i love....almost like a fresco in the Minoan tradition.....right out of the palace of Knossos! How interesting that I would receive such a generous, delightful painting. I am so honored and thrilled! I will be sending you a mixed media of mine....maybe the inspiration can go around! you are amazing. doing so much work now, fabulous. I really like the contrast of the left side sort of plain and the wonderful graphite marks on the right.

glad to see you are still painting up a storm! speaking of which- that is what your painting makes me think of- summer thunderstorms! i have had a little break from work & had a dear friend visit & it has been wonderful. hoping perhaps i can head up that way in a couple of weeks... i'll keep you posted.

oh, annie...these are splendid! the blues really sing and the quiet graphite chanting in the background sets a blissful tone! lovely! simply lovely!
I think this is one of your best. Anyway, it has a lot of appeal to me.
