Today
by Mary Oliver
Today I’m flying low and I’m
not saying a word.
I’m letting all the voodoos of ambition sleep.
The world goes on as it must,
the bees in the garden rumbling a little,
the fish leaping, the gnats getting eaten.
And so forth.
But I’m taking the day off.
Quiet as a feather,
I hardly move though really I’m traveling
a terrific distance.
Stillness. One of the doors
into the temple.
—"Today" by Mary Oliver (found in her published book of poetry called "a Thousand Mornings" & winner of the Pulitzer Prize)
This is my mantra for the new year, I am letting all the voodoos of ambition sleep and not just for a day, but for at least a year maybe for the rest of my life. My spiritual practice these days is about letting things be as they are and accepting them.
No more fixing or controlling.
Happy New Year!

Happy new year Annie! Let those voodoos sleep - forever! xo
happy new year! May your energies not be voodoo, but muses whispering in your eart
Wow. So THAT is what I have been doing. I hopped over from Silke at Metamorphosis, and oh so happy I did.

I like that- letting it all flow instead of battling to get what you think you want. I hope you have an inspired New Year.
thank you, annie! mary oliver and you do it again xo
something changed in me this past year. i am calmer and more willing to let life be and unfold. i think i'm kinder. and i don't waste time on situations or people where nothing good is likely to come from it.
let us create our hearts out in the year ahead!
love
