New Paintings,Mom's Journey

It has been a rough week and a half, but I am doing okay. The hardest part is how life keeps moving so fast and yet you just want to stop and rest for a while. I thought if I painted I would feel better, but I did not feel like painting, until these little boats showed up. I was thinking of doing a series of memorial paintings for my mom and I kept getting this image of a little boat, so I started and I love them and I think my mom does too.
I will do more, but thought I would share the first two. 10"x 10" and 12" x 12", oil, oil stick and graphite on venetian plaster and cradle board. For those that won't enlarge, I did some close ups.
I always love your comments.
The Fall Taos Arts show is next Friday, feels so weird now to even think about, but I will be going and hopefully selling my paintings, need some funds for my upcoming trip home for mom's memorial which we will be having towards the end of October. I was going to take photos of the show for all of you, but they won't allow cameras.
I have not been visiting blogs much, I know you will forgive me. Perhaps I will feel more like it next week.
Thank you all for your loving and dear comments, emails and phone calls.XOXO

Oh dear Annie, these are amazing! I love the boats, and the colors and the calm energy of the scribbles. Yes, I can feel the love you put into these paintings, Sweetie.

I've been thinking about you a lot during these last two weeks. . .

Love and hugs,

I understand how you must be feeling. Not wanting to do art while you know it would make you feel better.....
But this is perfect to paint for your Mom. This way you can feel and organize your feelings and thoughts and be close to your Mom at the same time.
Hope the show will be a success!!
I know life goes on and fast as you say..... at some point you have to hop on that merry go round again.
Wish you strength and a good weekend ♥

THIS is oustanding Annie- I truly love it. What would you sell it for? If I can afford it I would love to have it- very emotional piece of work.

These pieces are so full of love - you've captured 'journey' beautifully. In each piece the boat seems to be peacefully moving through the painting. Brilliant!

Hope you sell all of your paintings at the Taos Art Show! Wish you could take photos. Wish we could all be there with you.

Sending you lots of love -
xxoo

Annie, I love the boat and what it symbolizes, and the color of the boat - it's like the fire inside us that doesn't go out. Beautiful work, my friend. Sending hugs - xox Pam

Beautiful Annie. The idea of honouring your mother's life with a series of paintings of her journey is a great idea. I really like these 2.

Such a fitting image Annie. Especially the boat being empty, because we are after all, vessels. I'm glad painting is helping with your healing process.

Did you get in the show?

I hope you sell, but more than anything I hope you enjoy the experience of being appreciated.

Hugs,
Lo♥

this little boat.

i see this little boat taking your Mom home.

annie, i think in some way losing a Mother is the loneliest thing. i say this even as my 96 year old mother is alive: i know the day will come and i will miss her eyes.

i am gratified to see all these comments for you. there is such caring, because it's you and because you have the gift of good friends.

i quite like these paintings. i think they will help you remember. marion says there comes a time when it no longer hurts to remember. that is what i wish.

with love
kj

Hi Annie, the paintings are wonderful, and kj is right. The time comes eventually when you will think of her without pain. You will remember only the good, and celebrate that she called you daughter.
I'd love to see the show hanging also,,,best of everything with it.It's an honor being there.
