New Paintings

This is the first of three new paintings I will be posting this weekend. This one is my favorite and the title is "The Tempest", 20"x 16", venetian plaster, acrylic, oil paint, pastel and graphite on board. The new paintings are very different for me, not so happy (even though I am always happy when I paint :-), I think of the churning sea when I look at it. I included a bunch of detail shots because a painting this size is hard to get a shot that really shows you everything, at least with my point and shoot. You can also enlarge by clicking on the image. I always love your comments. I also tumbled it :-). Happy Friday!! XOXO

Annie - I really love this piece - the colors - that hint of blue and the spot of red = and all the movement. Really a wonderful piece!

Annie, it is so amazing to see the details in your work, and then to back up and see the entire piece. I would love to see these in person! it does remind me of the sea, and I think I spy a leviathan swimming through those depths. Beautiful work! Happy weekend - xox

Annie,
There's always so much more to see in your work than what shows at first glance. Discovery upon enlarging. I noticed you've added oil to your mix,,,is this new for you, or am I just now noticing?
I really like the concept of Tempest,,,and you've painted it well.

Hmmm, interesting that you think of the churning sea... my first thought was of a tornado or hurricane. Can be violent, or cleansing, depending on how you look at it. Hope you're having a nice weekend Annie. :)

Clicked to enlarge and what a revelation! The texture is very enticing. Love the spirally scribble in the corner. I wish I could see your work on the wall.

Simply beautiful!! I just love the emotions your art provokes in me when I look at it.

How are things going with Bella and the thundershirt. Winslow was hiding again this morning when we woke up to thunder and lightning and I'm thinking I might order one of those for him as well...

Happy Sunday!! Hugs, Silke

Angela,
Thank you twice :-).xoxo

Babs, That is why I always do the detailed shots, thank you for taking the time to enlarge. Also, yes this is a first for the oil for me in a long, long time. xoxo

Becky, a tornado works too :-). I worked on my porcelain book today, not sure it went well :-). xoxo

Robyn, thank you for taking the time, it makes a huge difference, I wish you could see it in person too.xoxo

Silke, Thank you!
The thundershirt is not working for Bella, her fear is more like terror, but I hear it has worked for some, worth a try for Winslow.
xoxo

Secret Agent, Thank you. I have sent you messages, I can't find your blog, I need another invite...xoxo

Lo, Thank you. I have been missing you! xoxo
