I picked these little flowers on my hike this morning and put them in my little vase I made for ETSY. I could hardly keep up with Zeusy on the hike and that makes me very happy :-). I had a dream this week that I found very interesting and would like some insight if you have any. I dreamed of a man who was critiquing my paintings and another woman's work as well. He told us that we both did beautiful work, but that we would be so much improved if we quit our jobs and focused all of our attention on our art.
Well, of course this is my wish to be able to do just that, but rent has to get paid, right? Perhaps if I could trust enough to just jump 100% in and not worry about how the money would come I would have been much further along by now. I am going to take a tip from this dream and work less jobs, say no more often and make more time for the work that really means something to me. That is a start. Do any of you out there make a living from your art? If you do, any advice is most welcome. I get to go paint now. Yay! Happy Sunday! XOXO

Hi Annie, this year I made a vow to myself to make more of the ideas from my head as well as things which I had been wanting to make for a while. I'm hoping to be able to gauge people's reaction to these ideas when I've made them, to see if they are something which would sell as patterns. I am cautious by nature so take baby steps.
What about as you suggested, a cutting down of jobs but having a safety net for your financial needs. Your dream was telling you something.
Hi Annie! I don't make a full-time amount from my art/writing. I would say I make a very lousy part-time amount. lol! I am trying to get on a schedule and stick to it, so I can get more done (photographed, listed, etc.) and then perhaps I could sell more. I try to stay determined. But you are so right, we have to pay those darn bills. :) xox Pam
Yey Zeusy! and Annie! <3
I wouldn't even try....but it's a good goal.
yay for zeus!! good doggie!!
i'm crossing my fingers for you dear annie.

Just wanted to stop in and say hello. Your vase is beautiful as is all of your work.

Hi Annie-
the flowers look nice in your vase! sorry i've been MIA this past week or so. family has kept me busy- especially my teenage nephew! we have been having fun though. i take him to the airport in the morning.
well, of course the guy in the dream is right- i am sure we'd all improve in our art if we had the time (ie not having to work our other jobs!) but, like you, there is the factor of paying rent, bills, etc. It would be wonderful to be able to spend more time doing what we love. it's important to try to do this. imperative, really. I too would love to hear about people "making it." but i would also like to know if there are any out there doing it with only themselves for support. i don't see/ hear about that very often.
hope your week is off to a good start. are you getting the nasty smoke in taos that we are getting in santa fe?
glad zeus is doing well.
