Yes, It can get Worse!
Well, that is what I get for complaining, now things are way worse. Yesterday morning Taos lost all it's oil for natural gas heaters and my heat and stove run on the stuff. When I got up it was -17, so as you can imagine there was a run on space heaters. I was not able to buy one. I have one tiny space heater, but thankfully my clients had many and loaned me two and a microwave oven. As miserable as it all is, I feel very blessed by this. Work got cancelled today, so after a run I will be indeed huddling under my flannel sheets. The house is still freezing, but not as bad as it would be without the heaters. On top of all this, the electric company is having rolling blackouts, so I will not be around on the computer much, it takes too much energy up. Hopefully we will have everything back to normal by tomorrow, I still have a black cat in my bathroom :-). Happy Friday! XOXO

Stay safe at home and be glad you aren't out traveling in this weather...Sounds like roughing it, though!
Teri, I have heat in my car, travel does not sound too bad right now :-).xoxo
good grief annie! stay safe and i'm hoping for things to return to normal as soon as possible for you.
Oy vey!!!!
I sure hope this rights itself before terribly long. Stay warm...Drink hot tea. Wear down gear. put towels in door drafts. Call in the guards. Hope kitty is okay too. Cuddle with all the cats.I guess you could go to the public library or somewhere that you know is heated.
Let us know when you can. Be brave!
Hugs for warmth!
Oh you poor dear. man, i do hate to be cold and have no heat. it is hard to believe people used to live like that with just teeny fireplaces to throw a bit of warmth. hope it all gets better soon.
well there could be worse things in yr bathroom i suppose. poor dear kitty.
Thinking of you, sweetie. Stay safe and keep warm. This too shall pass, if that's any consolation.
Love and hugs,
xoxoxo
Thanks everyone. I would be in heaven if I had a fireplace, much better at heating then these little heaters. BUT I am glad to have the little heaters! What has happened is they gave our oil to Texas, we know it has something to do with greed and the Super Bowl, which I think just stinks as it is colder here than Texas and really why can't we split it up. The sweet cat is really being so dear, not yowling or complaining (much) about being in the small bathroom. I have not decided what to do about her. Say prayers I make the right decision. I have been holing up under the covers watching DVD's, tomorrow I am going to get a shower(in a hot shower at a clients house) we have no hot water either as it is all run on gas, and try to get a few things accomplished as it should be a little warmer. Then cold again on Sunday, we are not going to have any heat until Monday, Tuesday earliest.Love you.xoxo
Hi Annie,
Hope you had a restful, & cozy day spent in bed w/ lots of covers & movies!!! Amazingly our temps went up to 35 today (heat wave, right?) They didn't shut off the gas here, but did close the schools, state offices, even the National Lab in Los Alamos. It's a kind of eerie situation, really... as we'll have many cold days before spring. Sending warm hugs!
:)ooooh, annie i just read your comment... no gas til tuesday?? you can always some stay here, though I know it's a drive.
Oh no Annie! That doesn't sound too good. We quite often have no heating here at home due to a creaking boiler that we can't replace (cost) and crows nesting on our chimney which means i won't allow Trev to light the fire! A few years ago I bought myself some decent thermals ... long johns, vest, socks ... and a hat (that I do wear in bed when the real freeze sets in). Otherwise I think I'd never get out of bed either!
Hope you are doing OK and I wish I lived nearer so I could adopt that very sweet looking kittie ... then you could visit too!
Will look through my emails for your message Annie I suspect that it's gone into the spam filtering somehow. Happy Saturday! Oodles of hugs from here. xx Jos
Oh no Annie so sorry to hear this. When we lived in the mountains we'd put everything we needed in the room with the woodburner which kept us going and set up sleeping bags and blankets in there too and try to turn it into an adventure with candles and lamps for the children. Luckily we had a camping gas stove and the rest of the house was cold enough not to worry about the fridge stuff. I so hope it warms up for you and Taos council sort the shortages out. It's times like this that bring folk together.
Hugs hun.
Oh, Annie, that is not fun. We get power hits every now and then, but we have propane, so as long as there is something in the tank, we can run the fake fireplace! LOL! I hated it when we moved here, but after the first power failure (that lasted a week), and I turned it on and we all huddled around it, I fell in love. You stay under the covers! xox Pam
Annie, this sounds really dreadful and COLD! I wish I could send all my long underwear down to you...when I first moved to the frigid zone, I was so glad I had those.
I really hope this situation will right itself soonest and that warmth will once more be a given...
xoxo
Jeez Annie, that's just wrong!! Can they do that? What about elderly folks and babies? And your fur babies? Man, that makes me mad. Dumb superbowl.
I hope this storm passes for you soon. Thank goodness for the folks who loaned you the heaters!
xo
Lo
Annie, sending you tons of sunshine from Mumbai. It is so hot here. Our winter (rather just the little nip in the air) came and went in a jiffy. Hope you are safe and warm as are all the kitties and doggy. I am so glad you rescued that kitten.
You are all so sweet with your kind words. I will be doing an update this afternoon after work.
I have lost some work due to this, but the place I work today has heat as they run on electric, and as long as there is no black out I will be warm for a few hours.Yay.
P.S. I am wearing long johns and my ski hat and scarf inside. Getting fingerless gloves today :-).xoxo
Oh Hunny ~Warm~ (((HUGS))) Warm, warm, warm (((Hugs))) xox
