Sneak Peek

These are awful photos, I took them inside on the run and a semi dark corner, but I wanted you to see that I am working :-). This piece is a long way from done, I have many elements to work on, but the two most important ones are the board background and the raven, venetian plaster, oil and graphite, 18"x 18". This piece will be one of the paintings to be entered into the Taos Selects Fall show. Now I am working on the most fun part, the other drawings and elements that will be going into this collage.
Love to know what you think so far. XOXO

oooo - ahhhhhh - can't wait to see it finished. You are going to have such a great show!

Thank you sweetie. I will have to be juried in to the show first. I have been accepted the last 2 years, but they have different judges each year, so there is no sure thing, but I think I will have a good chance.

Love Love the Raven Annie.. or what I would call a Crow.
I too struggle with photographing my art, yet I am good at taking pics of nature.. just not my art for some mad reason.. funny ha x x

On another note.. Annie have you ever read "The Artists Way".. by Julia Cameron.. If not I highly recommend it x x

Annie, you 'get' these ravens, don't you? This one seems introverted , gentle; at least to me.

I am rooting for the judges to have good taste and good sense! I am also rooting for a creative financial breakthrough for you. I love the idea of you and jos in Paris, at Angelina,s, watching African hot chocolate drip slower than cookie batter :-)

Robyn, I usually take the time to get my light cube outside and then the photos are much better, I just did not have time yesterday to do that. I highly recommend getting a light cube if you don't have one already, they come in different sizes. I got mine online. They also fold up to store easily. I have read that book, long ago. xoxo

Kj, Well, I do love them :-).
I think this guy is gentle and quiet and contemplating life :-).
Paris with Jos sounds beyond dreams come true.
Thank you for rooting for me! I am rooting for your knee!

What a regal private fellow. Perfect for the creation myth where Raven stirs the pot making the world, and thinks his own thoughts. I am really interested in how this fellow turns out. :-)

Kate, Thank you. xoxo

Melanie, He is very royal I think.
I am going to be interested in how he turns out too, just as much of a surprise to me :-). xoxo

This combination is already looking fabulous, Sweetie!

I've been thinking about you a lot, and hope you are doing OK in the midst of those terrible wildfires. Stay safe.

(I also left a comment on your previous post, because that quote hit so close to home with me, too.)

Robyn, It is a white cube you put you painting in and it helps with lighting and just makes the pieces pop better, I use it outside, you need special lights if you use it inside, look them up on the web.
Inspiration is everywhere isn't it :-). xoxo

Angela, It is very smoky here, but I am in a safe spot.
Thank you sweetie. I think of you often too. xoxo

Annie, I like everything about this piece. Looking forward to seeing it completed. Interesting about the light cube. I really battle to take nice photos of my work.

Robyn, Thank you, it has changed a lot since I took this photo :-).
I think you do a great job with your photos. I swear by my light cube, could not live without it. They come in all sizes, I have a 30"x 30" which is good for most of my paintings. xoxo
