New Collages

As an artist I know some of you will relate that sometimes you love a new piece and sometimes you don't.
I don't love these collages, I don't hate them, not ready to plaster over them yet, so I am showing them and putting them in my ETSY shop because sometimes other people like pieces that I don't. Each collage takes from a week to 2 weeks to complete, so it seems better to see what other people think of a piece before I
plaster over them. You never know, to each his own :-).
The top piece is 16"x 16", venetian plaster, oil, acrylic, micro pen, paper, rust stains, cold wax on cradle board, the second piece is 12'x 12", venetian plaster, oil, India ink, micro pens, paper, rust stains, cold wax on cradle board. I am going back to my studio/ kitchen and hopefully I will love the next one :-).
I always love to hear your thoughts.
Have a wonderful weekend. XOXO

While I like the first one and it feels complete, to me, it is the blue one that looks like it is waiting for one more bit. I expect to see a Madonna image emerge as each view passes but it's not happening. Perhaps she is still waiting to emerge?

Well, I really like these, Annie, so I'm very glad you've shared them!

I love that colour blue. And I like the feel of waiting there is about that piece ... like an open invitation to walk through and see what's there. Beautiful work Annie.

My thoughts are with you today my lovely. Our Mothers Day was a few weeks before my mum died so I'll not face that particular hurdle until next year now. I just wanted to send you a big hug and wish you a happy sunday. Hope you are planning to paint!

The magical doorway is very inviting. It might suit some as a meditation piece. I like the deer and crow- there is something wood-cut about it, like the illustration to a fairy tale.

Annie, Sorry no Madonna, but nice image. xoxo
Erin, Thank you! So lovely to see you here. xoxo
Jos, Thank you! What a wonderful surprise and sweet comment, it is indeed a hard day for me, it is the last of the firsts and it is the hardest. I have been thinking about you as well, lots of love and big hugs back. I am doing hiking, yard work and then yes painting :-).xoxo
Melanie, Thank you, I was going for a woodcut look :-). xoxo

Annie - isn't it the truth about some pieces you create speak to you and others don't. But I do know others will like what I might not like.
I love both of these pieces, but feel the first one is more complete. I agree that the window/doorway seems to want something more or as Jos said maybe the piece is about an 'open invitation.'
I too have been thinking about you these last few days. Big hugs - xxoo

Lori, Thank you sweetie, nature is really my life, more than anything even art I love the trees and ocean, mountains and animals.xoxo

Judy, Thank you, the blue door is an invitation to spirit. Nothing seems to be coming right now, sort of stuck so just doodling and waiting for something to work.
Thank you for the hugs. xoxo

Hi Annie,
I like them both, but perhaps the top one just a bit more. How are things up north? I'm finishing up the semester & getting ready for the move out of the sublet & into my new place this week.
