Happiness is...

I have been thinking about doing this post for a while when Artpropelled did one and it inspired me to finally do this, I also borrowed this wonderful poem from her post (Thank you Robyn!).

From the tip top on down: Happiness is:

Creating, this is my newest painting, side view and close up, 5"x 5" mixed media on board "This is Why". I fixed it so you can enlarge if you so choose.
The Oregon coast, I miss it so...

Ravens!

Coyotes, this photo was taken a few Summers ago, but in the last 3 weeks I have seen 3 coyotes and as some of you know this always means major change is afoot for me.

My Bella, I have done some research and she is a Dutch Shepherd and has no lab in her like we once guessed.

My sweet Zoe.

My bad and wonderful Max.

Taos mountain with snow aboard.

The wonderful Fall colors that are short lived, but much loved.

I hope your weekend is full of happiness, make it so. Happy Saturday! XOXO

SO MUCH HAPPINESS by Naomi Shihab Nye
It is difficult to know what to do
with so
much happiness.
With sadness there is something
to rub
against,
A wound to tend with lotion and cloth.
When the world falls in around you,
you
have pieces to pick up,
Something to hold in your hands,
like
ticket stubs or change.
But happiness floats.
It doesn't need you to hold it down.
It doesn't need anything.
Happiness lands on the roof
of the next
house,
singing,
And disappears when it wants to.
You are happy either way.
Even the fact that you once lived
in a
peaceful
tree
house
And now live over a quarry of noise
and
dust
Cannot make you unhappy.
Everything has a life of its own,
It too could wake up filled with possibilities
Of coffee cake and ripe peaches,
And love even the floor
which needs to
be swept,
The soiled linens and scratched records…..
Since there is no place large enough
To contain so much happiness,
You shrug, you raise your hands,
and it
flows out of
you
Into everything you touch.
You are not
responsible.
You take no credit,
as the night sky
takes no credit
For the moon, but continues to hold it,
and to share it,
And in that way, be known.- Naomi Shihab Nye

I love the new painting, Annie! There is something about these pieces. It's like there are messages hidden there, and landscapes. It reminds me of taking a geology class in college, when I learned to read topo maps - only this is some other kind of world. :) Life, she is good, no? Love the photos! xox

Hmmmm ... blogger is up to it's old tricks. I shall try once more.

Love the painting Annie. There's been a definite shift and evolution been going on in your work. Also I really like the lines which make me think you are trying to contain the flow in some way. I've always loved the fact that your paintings have sides and tops/bottoms as well as a front. I never saw that anywhere before your work.

Max looks so smug!!! He knows he's a bad boy doesn't he? And does he care? Nope :)

Happy Sunday Annie, and if there's change afoot I hope it's all good. xx Jos

I don't see the coyotes but I often hear them at night in the woods behind my house. Hope the changes are good ones!

Beautiful post. It is good to realize what makes you happy, most of the time it are the things which are around you.
Have a week filled with happiness :)

Really enjoy the textures in the upper left corner of the work. It has the appearance of leaves to me.
I love the chunky side view also.

Wonderful, all your photos. Zoe looks exactly like my grand-kitty Vivian, and I think Max looks lots more wonderful than bad.(such beautiful markings)

We don't have coyotes here, but I've been told by neighbors that we do have bobcats which roam the lower part of the property.I've not seen any, but we never leave the dog out alone.
