Prayers Needed

Praise and blame, gain and loss, pleasure and sorrow come and go like the wind. To be happy, rest like a giant tree, in the midst of them all. -Buddha

I am trying to be like a tree, I got news a couple weeks ago that has me very sad. I have only been in love twice, and the first was B, he is 12 years younger than me and we tried once it did not work, 10 years later we tried again and it still did not work, but through it all I have always loved him. While I am no longer in love with him, I still love him and want the best for him. He has stage 3 cancer and will be having surgery Wednesday to have his colon removed. He is very angry and scared and who can blame him.
I am asking all who read this to say a prayer for him, think good thoughts, light a candle, whatever it is that you do, especially keep him in your prayers Wednesday.
Thank you.
*UPDATE: B had surgery and all went well. Now only time will tell.

New painting

This is a new painting I started before I got sick and finished this week. Very different for me. It could be a transition piece or a new series, not sure as I am now onto something different using maps and ledgers.
My trouble or strength depending on who you ask is that I am always trying new things and mediums and so my work does not have one look or style.
The first two photos are detail shots and the 3rd photo is a full on shot of the piece, the last photo is a side view. Titled "Winter" 24"x 12", many layers of venetian plaster, graphite and oil, final piece is covered in cold wax.
I always love to hear your thoughts. xoxo

New Art Project

It has been a while. I hesitate to say that I am better because the last time I did all hell broke loose. At the end of my antibiotics I had a major allergic reaction and got very sick, it took me 2 weeks to recover, then the sinus infection came back, I think because my body was busy fighting the antibiotics, but now I have just a little sinus infection left, it is better everyday, treating it with natural remedies. I am getting caught up with my life, and back to art. While I was sick I started a project that I could do from bed, sewing tea and rusted teabags together, I am making a large wall hanging that will likely take all Winter, the photos are of teabags already rusted. This week I am also finishing a painting I was nearly done with before I got sick, there will be photos soon. It feels wonderful to be back to making art, I get very cranky when I go too long with out it.
I want to start the year with gratitude for wellness, and friends, family and art!
I hope you are all having a Happy New Year, I have missed you. XOXO
