More Drawings, and a Few Small Paintings and Some Good News!

I have been busy :-). I have much more to show, but will save them for another post, I don't want to overwhelm you. The first images are all tea bag and rust drawings, various sizes. The paintings are 4" with 2" sides, like little cubes. I had so much fun doing all these pieces I hope it shows. They will all be making their way to my ETSY site in the next week, but if you see something you like let me know and I will reserve it in your name in my shop. The prices range from $20- $49. I always love your comments.
I have loads of good news: We have had no thunder for almost a week! Bella is very relaxed :-).
I sold some of my drawings! Thank you Barbara! And last, I was selected in the Tao's selects juried show, they can only pick 2 from the three submitted and they picked the root painting and the red bowl. Whoo hoo!
I am off to paint. Have a wonderful weekend everyone! XOXO

A Little of This and That

This is a catch up post. Remember long ago a few months ago I had a give away and Susan form Mermaid Gallery was the winner. I never showed you what I made for her. The top photo is a quick snap shot I took of the small painting before I sent it off to Susan and the middle photo is the sweet painting she sent back as a thank you. I meant to show these long ago and time got a way from me.
The bottom photo is a gift from a dear friend in England, Melanie, she was on a trip to the beach and found this lovely tea towel. Melanie knows how much I miss the ocean, so she sent me this along with some postcards. She is always thinking about others. Thank you Melanie and Susan!
Also some of you have asked about Bella, my sweet dog. It has been a long Summer for us both. We have had thunder storms almost daily for 2 months. The worst days were when the thunder was right over my house and boomed away for hours. Lately it has been lighter and shorter. It turns out that absolutely nothing works for her, not even the pills the vet gave me, not even a double dose. I  have tried everything except the dog whisperer, and I think he may be a little to pricey for us :-). When I say we tried it all, we have. I have been lucky in that I could be her most of the time.  The good news is that thunder season is almost over. We will both do the dance of joy.
That's it for now. Making drawings and starting a bunch of new paintings. Photos soon.
Have a Happy week! XOXO

Now for Something Completely Different

Remember when I was stuck and stalled with my paintings? I did these drawings during that time.
A friend gave me some 7"x6" paper and I let some rust and tea do some work on them, then I had all these tea bags and decided to do some little drawings on them and put the two together. I also had a dream that I drew on bones, I find a lot of them when I hike, I tried a little drawing on one and liked it, so I will be doing more. All of these pieces will be going into my ETSY shop in the next week, where I am still having a 30% off sale. I always love your comments. Happy weekend! XOXO

The 3 Paintings for the Jury

These are the 3 paintings I submitted. Now comes the long wait. I try not to put a lot of importance on this stuff, it would just be nice to have a venue to sale a bit of art :-). The jury will pick 2 out of 3 or one or none.
I will put these in my ETSY shop if they are not selected. Thank you for all your loving comments.
Happy Wednesday! XOXO
P.S. These will all be Tumbled for those that Tumble.

I completed the 2nd painting for the Taos selects. I am now doing the photo work and getting ready to download. Whew, almost done with 3 days to spare.
This is Blue Bowl, 16"x 16" Venetian plaster, oil paint and graphite.
I am sending them 3 images and they will pick two (or none). I will show you all three in a few days.
Your comments are always appreciated. Happy Sunday! XOXO

Unstuck!

Late Monday I got unstuck. It came as a small voice telling me I did not have to stick to any idea I had about what to do next (another "Root" painting) I had been thinking about painting bowls and vessels for weeks and resisted it. Finally I did it and I really liked the result. I am half done with another one. I took a quick photo in my yard tonight (and a detail shot), it is not the best and I will do another this weekend fit to submit to the show, but I wanted to share and get some feedback.
I took it to a friend today and they did not like it. I am okay with that and I want honesty. I certainly don't think that all people should like every piece! That would be impossible. I did find myself second guessing my own opinion, but you know even if it is crap in the end I have to go with my own voice and I really like it a lot, so I am submitting it to the show. Enlarge for a better view.
I always appreciate your thoughts.
My 30% off sale in my ETSY shop is still going...Read P.S. below for details.
happy Thursday! XOXO

STUCK!

I know I have not been around the blogs much, the reason is I have a deadline coming up. The Taos select juried show is coming up and I have about 10 more days. A few months ago I painted "Root" it came easy and I loved it and I thought, this is one of the paintings I will enter in the show. I also painted a little miniature because if we get juried in we can put in a small piece for free (you have to pay for the two pieces you enter), but I have yet to do the second piece. I have had months. Now I have 10 days. I have many abstract pieces I could enter, but in Taos that does not fair very well, so I am trying to do another painting that relates well with "Root" and nothing is working. I am painting everyday. NOTHING is working. I took a couple days off, thought that would help. It did not.  I am trying to work on other projects to see if that helps. It is not. I am writing this post for all the other artists out there who are stuck, you are not alone. It happens to all of us.
I read something from Kiki Smith today that helped. She said just keep working, the only way to get to the other side is to keep working. I believe her and even though at this moment I feel I will never finish a (good) painting again, I know I will. Eventually :-).

P.S. My 30% off sale is still going in my ETSY shop. The prices you see there if you go look are NOT the sale prices, to get the sale price you have to type in Summer in the code box that pops up during check out.
Have a wonderful weekend! XOXO
