I came here tonight without anything at all to write about, but thought I would sit down and give it a go anyway. Sometimes if I just start writing, ideas come. Okay, that is something I can write about :-), how and why and when do the best ideas come? For me I get lots of ideas from my dreams, if I remember them, and I do remember them most of the time. Einstein came up with his best work from a dream :-). I also get good ideas when I am running or hiking out in nature. I get many ideas when I am talking to my friend J.
Reading and watching movies will also open my mind to new ideas. The thing all these activities have in common is that I am relaxed when I am doing them. Could it be that the best ideas come when one is in a happy, relaxed state? It is true for me. How does it work for you?

Interesting question, if I ever get an idea, I'll be sure to let you know where it came from.
WT-Smarty pants :-).
My ideas come from everywhere, hardly dreams, and if I do remembere the dreams..it's never happy. Happy weekend Annie, big hugs always :D
I think I do come up with better ideas for my writing when I am relaxed--seems as if it's a telltale sign I *am* relaxed if I wake up in the morning with ideas.
This week I woke up very early with an idea from a dream burning to be written down before it faded. Other times it can be certain colours together. Taking my camera withme helps me focus on what I am seeing.
Some of my best ideas come to me as I wallow in the bath! I like to think I'm in good company as the writer Douglas Adams said that too. In fact he used to spend hours in the bath, constantly running the hot water dry much to his flatmates' annoyance (!) I love it when an idea arrives out of nowhere - it's so exciting and I want to start it immediately!!!
