Sick, Day 15

Some of you may have noticed I have not been blogging for 2 weeks. I have had the flu for the first time in over 10 years and it was a major one. For the last 15days I could hardly feed myself let alone be on the internet or even read. For a woman that lives alone it at first seemed impossible, but my many friends went to the store, brought me DVDs  and called daily to check in. I am so lucky to have them. My family, though far away also called and checked in almost daily. Many have told me they have the flu too, but yet they are working, I don't understand that because I could hardly make it to the bathroom. The last week I have been on the upside, but still have very little energy, though cooking is something I can now do, nothing fancy, but yay I can cook. For the first week that really was not a problem because I could not eat! I am so grateful that this is almost over. I will attempt to go back to work Monday. I don't know how people who are really sick, like with cancer do it day after day, I guess they do it because they have to, but it gives me great respect for them. I am so very behind in my life, I will slowly catch up with all of you at some point. I have missed you. I hope you are all healthy and well! XOXO

Snow Rabbit

Life's splendor forever lies in wait about each one of us in all its fullness, but veiled from view, deep down, invisible, far off. It is there, though, not hostile, not reluctant, not deaf. If you summon it by the right word, by its right name, it will come.

—Franz Kafka, October 18, 1921
From The Diaries of Franz Kafka 1910-1923

I found this little snow rabbit and wondered if nature made it or if man did :-).
I have been doing a lot of art and I have many bits and pieces I need to bring together, hopefully this weekend. So, for now I have nothing, but I leave you with this quote from Kafka. Have a wonderful weekend. XOXO

New Work and The Winner of my Give-Away

First, let me announce that the winner of my teabag drawing give-away is the wonderful, dear Laura!
These are some of my new pieces, small, rust and vinegar, and the bottom one is made with loose herbal tea and rust and vinegar. I have included close ups, but double click to see all the details. I always love to know what you think.
Very cold in this neck of the woods, -10 at night and in the 20's during the day. I have been watching lots of videos, huddled under the covers (my house is very drafty!).  I received Downton Abbey for Christmas, and I am enjoying it enormously.
I hope you are all staying warm and happy.
XOXO

New Work

This is new work and a new process for me, I have never done anything like this so it pushes my comfort zone a bit. I combined my painting with my found rust and nature things I find hiking . This is a 8"x 8" cradle board, oil, venetian plaster, graphite and rusted wire, and a small antler. This piece will be in an upcoming miniature show at Millicent  Rogers Museum In Taos next month. Double click to get a up close and personal view.
I always love to know your feelings.
A new year is upon us, I feel open to new possibilities and a renewed passion to my art. I also feel a lack of need to push things or control or make things happen.
Happy New Year! XOXO

Merry, Happy Everything

Well, we are all still here, as I knew we would be, the world did not end as I knew it would not :-).
So Happy Survival, Merry Christmas and New Year and Happy Winter Solstice and any holiday around the world I don't know about. I know that Hanukkah  has passed I hope it was filled with light.
I just realized this is my 800Th and 2nd post, I had planned on doing a give away at 800, so I will do one now, it is Christmas after all. I will be giving away one of my little tea and rust drawings. If you would like to be in the draw just leave a comment and let me know. I will announce the winner after New Years.
Have  a wonderful holiday , each and every one of you. I appreciate and love you all that come here.

TREE LOVE

About a year ago I read on a blog about a thing called a tree wrap, this blogger who I cannot remember the name of (so sorry) made hers with leather. I thought it was a wonderful idea and months later on a hike I rounded a corner and this great tree inspired me to make it a tree wrap. I made mine with raw canvas, some tea and rust drawings, bone, feather, rock, shell and gold thread. I took it out with a friend and wrapped the tree just as a big snow storm was coming in last weekend. I think it will be a nice surprise to hikers and I hope the tree liked it :-).
Have a wonderful weekend.

New Rust and Teabag Drawings

These are about half of my newest pieces, I will share the others at another time. I have included a close up of each drawing. I have been having fun and going outside of my comfort zones, which feels great.
I always love to hear from you.
Tomorrow is the last day of my ETSY sale, so you know.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone. Love. XOXO
