Hydra #2
This is "Hydra, Ode to Leonard Cohen #2" , 12" x12" Venetian plaster, rust stained paper, ink, oil and acrylic paint, cold wax on board. See post below for my inspiration.
If you click on the image and then click again you get all the details, it is worth the small effort.
You know I love to hear your thoughts.
I am now working on a big 40"x 40" piece to go with this series and won't be posting much art for a while.
I will be tumbling this for those that want to tumble :-).
XOXO

New Painting/Collage
I am back to abstraction where I feel more myself. I have to say it is much harder than the collages where I have a raven as the center, because I have a place to start with the image of the raven, with the abstract I have to pull it out of thin air. This piece is called "Hydra, ode to Leonard Cohen" I love him and I am reading a book about his life called "I'm Your Man", it is a wonderful book and at one time Leonard bought a little house on Hydra a Greek island, this collage reminds me of his descriptions of sitting on the beach watching the sun come down. This collage is 12"x 12" , venetian plaster, oil, acrylic, rust stained paper, India ink, pen, graphite and cold wax on board.
I always love to hear your thoughts.
I included many detail shots, but if you click on the image then click again you will see the real deal.
This piece is tumbled.
XOXO

New Painting/Collage for Taos Selects
I have been working hard. I finally finished the second collage for the Taos selects Fall Arts show. I still have to be selected by the judges, so I am not in the show yet. This piece is another 18"x 18", venetian plaster, Oil paint, India ink, rice paper, tea and rust stained paper, ink, graphite, thread, colored pencil, charcoal, cold wax on cradle board. I think the title will be "Waiting #2"as the first one is "Waiting", (thank you Barbara for the title suggestion!), the title is subject to change as I live with these pieces. I made them to be hung together and took a quick shot of them side by side, it is a bit blurry and not a great shot as they would not fit into my light cube, but you get the idea.
As usual the photo is never as good as the actual painting, of course if you think about it, it would be sad if the photo was better :-). I took many detail shots. If you click on the photo it will enlarge and if you then click again it will enlarge further, that is the only way to get a proper look at my work.
I always love to hear what you think. XOXO
P.S. This piece will be tumbled.

America Martin
Painting by America Martin.
It has been a while since I posted, I have been busy working on the second raven painting for the show (I will have something to show by next weekend). Last Saturday I went to a show for my friend America Martin. I took my camera, but completely forgot to take photos, darn! I met America a few years ago at her first show in Taos, I love her work, but more than that I was totally taken with her, I have only met a few people in my life that I can say are really living from their heart. She is beautiful inside and out. She has a spirit of generosity and love that just makes her glow. I adore her. If you have never heard of her, go to her blog and check her out. Have a Happy Weekend. XOXO

New Collage for Taos Selects Show
I finally finished one painting/collage for the show. I have worked the last 3 weeks on this piece. 18"x 18", venetian plaster, rice paper, oil, India ink, micro pen, graphite, handmade paper, thread, rust and tea stained paper, colored pencil, and cold wax on cradle board. I don't have a title yet, perhaps you could all help with that :-). I am doing another raven for the other painting, going to take a couple days off before starting it, I have lots of time as I started early on these for once. I have had fun doing them, but I can't wait to get back to my abstract work! Missing it a lot. I did many close ups of this piece because you just can't get the details without them. If you take the time to enlarge by clicking on the photo you will get even more detail.
I always love to hear your thoughts. XOXO
PS, This collage has been tumbled.

Sneak Peek
These are awful photos, I took them inside on the run and a semi dark corner, but I wanted you to see that I am working :-). This piece is a long way from done, I have many elements to work on, but the two most important ones are the board background and the raven, venetian plaster, oil and graphite, 18"x 18". This piece will be one of the paintings to be entered into the Taos Selects Fall show. Now I am working on the most fun part, the other drawings and elements that will be going into this collage.
Love to know what you think so far. XOXO
