Slowing Down

We have a strange anxiety in us; that if we don’t interfere then it won’t happen. Now that’s the root of an enormous amount of trouble. - Alan Watts
I just wanted to check in and say hello.
I am still working on my large painting, 47" x 47" and I have much left to do, but I refuse to rush it, I do however start to get nervous and sometimes work on smaller pieces, so I feel as if I am getting something done :-).  I love this quote, because it makes me smile and slow down. I realize I am not in a race.
I hope that you are all having a wonderful last bit of Summer. Enjoy every moment and slow down.
I also wanted to mention how sad I am about Robin Williams. I lived in San Francisco for 20 years and he was a presence in that town as well as the world. I loved him and will miss him. Prayers and love to his family and friends.
XOXO

Annie, I loved Robin Williams, too, as an actor and a human being. He had to be one of the funniest people ever. Take your time and enjoy working on your piece. xox

Sharmon, Yes, he was the funniest and sweetest man. I can watch viseos of him now and they make me laugh still and now cry. xoxo

Lynne,
Love right back to you.
Sometimes the most sensitive beings feel the most pain.
Yin Yoga sounds awesome.

I love it when artists "work big"; that was the mantra of my 9th grade art teacher. You probably have a lot of beautiful detail and feeling in it!

Kj, My motto is 'Why worry?' :-).
Robin was iconic. He is with the angels now. xoxo

Kate P, I will eventually, it has and will have many layers. I wish I had the space to do really big pieces, twice as big as this one would be nice, but we do what we can :-). xoxo

'Slow-down' - always good advice. We move entirely too fast in this culture. Waving at Lynne - yes to Yin Yoga!
It's amazing how much someone we don't really know can have such a strong influence on us -- Robin Williams has been a part of my life since I can remember - through his laughter and more poignant roles as well. I think he left an amazing legacy - just wish he could have truly felt all the joy he brought to this world.
Looking forward to seeing that painting . . .

Judy,
I agree, I wish Robin had known how loved he was and could have come to terms with his demons. He is greatly missed.
I am looking forward to the next phase of my big painting, finishing up the tea squares and tomorrow will be able to start the next layer. YAY. xoxo

It's funny how the big pieces seem scariest ... aren't they just bigger small pieces? Ah if only I could remind myself of such wisdom. Annie I'm all too conscious of my absense and what a poor friend I've been lately. I suppose there's part of me that knows our friendship will endure no matter what so I sometimes take it too much for granted. I will try to remember to be more present hunnybun. Love you xoxo Jos

Jos, I have missed you, but I know how life can be. So wonderful when you surface though :-). Love you too. And yes I am here no matter what. xoxo
