Porcelain Update

Thank you all for your words of lovely support. I had a wonderful Sunday and Monday working with the porcelain. No troubles at all. I kept it simple making only a cup and ornaments and pendants. Too soon to tell if they will make it to the final stages. I received a finished bowl back today, made with the porcelain mix and was very disappointed in it. I have so much to learn about glazing. I won't be posting that one as I really can do so much better. I have been doing ceramics for a year and a half and I feel I should be better. I know there is a huge learning curve
and I will try to be patient with myself. Okay, enough. I promise I should have some ornaments to show next week! I hope you are all having a great week. XOXO

Worry not sweet Annie, the best artists in the world had to go through many grinding mills to get perfection. Do what you love and do it well, we are all in full support. Much love...M

Hi Annie,

I write and have had those feelings, too. And yet I know that writers always see more that could be done -- even the greatest. I would think it was the same with any artist. I imagine if I saw your creation I would just see the beauty in it and not even know what you see as a problem -- unless you put your thumb through it or something obvious like that! The more you learn the more you know how it can be and that may be part of what is going on. Even without seeing it I'm sure there is much beauty there.

Wishing you joy in your creating.

Every artist...and I mean every artist goes thru this sort of thing...I know. I was born into a family of women artists..my friends are artists...and of course, my bloggy friends are artists.
The thing that has helped me the most is "The Artist's Way", try it...I would send you my copy but it is filled with my writing..and nearly thread bound...smiles.

what's most important is that you are following your heart and doing what you love

Please be gentle with yourself, and perhaps it will shine through in the next few pieces.

Hi Annie,
Disappointments happen. I have a canvas turned to the wall that I am disappointed with. I can always paint over sections of it. That's not possible with glazed pottery. Failures aren't necessarily bad, they are learning experiences.

Thanks you all, I know you are right :-).

Just doing art regularly is what separates you from so many others.

You can truly say that you are an artist by that fact that you are constantly creating something, not by how well you glaze. That will improve in time.

Can't wait to see them all Annie.

It sounds like this is a new challenge to meet with open arms. How exciting to experiment and see where this new material takes you. :-)
