Ask for the price you want, but leave a little wiggle room for those who need a bit of persuading.

I am glad your dog is okay. Have you given Bella the rattlesnake vaccine? Our dog Pono has gotten it, and gets a booster every year. I also took him to a rattlesnake avoidance class. I keep staring at it, thinking I should be 'reading' it. Translating those lines. It reminds me of a musical score, too. It's been so enjoyable to see your work change and develop. As for pricing things, I haven't a clue! :) xoxyoborobohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07066130552106363077noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7605417514477511121.post-10180667102737714442012-05-08T15:16:06.745-07:002012-05-08T15:16:06.745-07:00Great to hear that Bella is doing so much better. ...Great to hear that Bella is doing so much better.

I feel awkward about putting a money value on the things I make. Bella is almost 100% her old self. We are so lucky.
Glad you like the painting! xoxo
Norma, Thank you for the link.If any lines in this painting are perfect it is totally by accident LOL.xoxo
Lynn,In all my shows I have been in they always take almost half and all the galleries take half. You have to figure that into the selling price for sure. I have always underpriced my work for years until I realized that it may take longer to sale at a higher price, but it felt so much better.
Having said that I like the idea of making smaller, less time consuming works that everyone can afford that feels good too.xoxo
Becky, Thank you and you know that I would love for you to have a painting!let's talk soon.xoxo
Babs, I love how my painting makes you feel :-). I just sold that painting last year and it was a big leap forward. The painting was a large 47"x 47" and it took me 3 months to do. It lives in Santa Fe now. But you also have to realize I know artists in Taos who get 25,000 for the same size painting.
So I am still small potatoes.xoxo
Lori,I think you put it into words just fine. ( I may just have to buy one!) I love art, but unfortunately it is usually way out of my price range... so I am generally pretty happy when I can pick up a pot/mug/cup from a fellow clay artist. They had a a clay show in Santa Fe today & I did just that!
Your weekend sounds wonderful Annie, enjoy!
:) miss you, too!beckyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02070619577137197512noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7605417514477511121.post-8087046778027122752012-05-05T19:30:37.550-07:002012-05-05T19:30:37.550-07:00John Simlett on his blog today also talks about ho...John Simlett on his blog today also talks about how to price his art: http://gatepostpicture.blogspot.com/2012/05/my-view-on-marketing.html

I don't sell a lot of art. But have priced my art quilts from $200-$500. I know others who get
$1000's ++ for theirs.

Sometimes if in a show I have to give a percentage to the gallery.

One quilt I worked on steadily over three months. She will probably be very wary of snakes from now on.
